World Mental Health Day 2021
Today is Mental Health Day and this year we are highlighting mental health in an unequal world.
In our unequal world we don’t all have the opportunity to access mental health services. 2020 presented inequalities due to race and ethnicity, sexual orientation and gender identity, and the lack of respect for human rights in many countries, many of these people living with mental heal issues.
The stigma attached to and experienced with mental health is detrimental to someone’s wellbeing as it goes on to affect their education, careers and social life. As apart of local and global communities we need to change this for our own health and others’.
Over the past year, 13 Elanders UK employees have volunteered and trained to become a Mental Health First Aider.
This includes:
- 5 employees trained through the St Johns Ambulance Mental Health First Aid Course with more still to be trained.
- 6 employees have completed a NCFE CACHE Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Mental Health First Aid and Mental Health Advocacy in the Workplace via online learning.
Now, more than ever, it is important to talk or listen to your colleagues, friends and family members as we start to ease out of an isolated 18 months due to Covid-19. Coming back into social environments can be just as anxious and frightening as they can be exciting, so it may take some time to adjust.
Alternatively if our staff wish to speak to someone external to the business, The Printing Charity can provide support via their free confidential helpline. ❤️
